Volunteering with St Andrew’s First Aid

As a volunteer with St Andrew’s you will have access to training and development opportunities and given the chance of attending a wide range of events from local gala days, sporting events to large national events like music festivals, marathons etc. where your skills, knowledge and experience may be required to help someone and may even save their life.

You may also have the opportunity to share first aid skills and knowledge in your local area, supporting us on our journey to build safer communities throughout Scotland.

What we provide to our volunteer team:

  • First aid training for all first aiders
  • Uniform*
  • Weekly/fortnightly first aid practice sessions
  • Weekly/fortnightly volunteer group meetings in your local area
  • A pathway for learning and developing skills via courses and workshops in a variety of subjects
  • Opportunity to attend volunteer conferences, forums and roadshows
  • Expenses**
  • Opportunities to progress and move to different roles within the organisation

*Full uniform is issued when a volunteer has demonstrated their commitment to the organisation.

Volunteer training

All training will be provided for successful applicants. Dates, times and locations will be confirmed following the offer of your volunteer role.

In addition to your initial training, you will be expected to meet with other volunteers at regular training sessions throughout the year, so as to keep your skills and qualifications up to date.

We are happy to receive volunteer enquiries at any time, however our recruitment runs in phases throughout the year to allow us to best maximise volunteer availability for interviews, and places on volunteer training courses. Please see below for a breakdown of recruitment throughout the year. *Please note, this schedule is subject to change (for example, in more rural areas).

Locations

St Andrew’s First Aid are proud to offer volunteering opportunities throughout the whole of Scotland, from the Highlands and Islands to Dumfries and Galloway.

Our local volunteer groups meet regularly across a number of locations, and are headed up by experienced volunteers who coordinate the training and activities of volunteers within the particular area.

How to apply

If you would like to join the St Andrew’s First Aid team, you can register your interest online. This allows us to find out a little bit about you and the role you are interested in.
