A final farewell to 2022!

As we reach the end of our 2022/23 financial year, we thought we’d take a stroll down memory lane to highlight the achievements and accomplishments our teams have completed this year. It’s been a rollercoaster of a year and we are looking forward to seeing what the 2023/2024 season has in store for us.

We have spoken to all our departments and asked them to talk us through the main highlights from the year be it Operation Unicorn or The Scottish First Aid Awards – read all about our teams’ achievements below!

Our Corps team had an exceptionally busy 2022 with some huge events taking place including music festivals, hundreds of football fixtures and Operation Unicorn following the sad passing of her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We also celebrated 140 years of St Andrew’s First Aid locally and nationally to mark this milestone!

This year is looking to be just as busy with some notable events on the cards! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on this.

Our Community Engagement team has been busy too! A huge 318 talks and demos sessions were delivered to over 13, 340 people from our amazing volunteers.

As well as this, we utilised funding to deliver our Ready for Life programme for free in 15 Scottish local authority areas in 41 schools, for 440 young people and issued 880 industry qualifications. The young people completing the programme gained an SCQF6 in Emergency First Aid at Work, and an SCQF4 in First Aid for Mental Health Awareness. The programme was delivered in both mainstream and ASN schools, supporting young people who fell outwith regular attainment patterns. We are delighted for the young people who have since gained employment following completion of the programme, with 60% of schools reporting that young people had achieved this milestone.

We can’t wait to see what this year brings for Community Engagement!

Our Marketing team have had quite the year with the addition of 2 new members of staff and a brand new website!

The new website has been an amazing addition to the organisation as it allows our customers to book directly on the website for their preferred location. It has gone from strength to strength and we are continually improving the website through SEO and other tools!

Our social enterprise, which provides customers with first aid training and first aid supplies, have had another successful year – over 16,000 delegates trained and over 1,300 courses delivered! Did you know that all profits generated by the social enterprise are invested back into our charity?

We have seen an increased interest in mental health training and have also launched two new training venues in Falkirk and Hamilton and are looking to identify further suitable venues later this year so keep your eyes peeled!

As well as our new venues, we have also introduced blended learning for two of our courses which combines online learning with face to face training.

Our supplies department continue to provide our customers with essential first aid supplies including first aid kits and defibrillators.
