First Aid for Mental Health - 1 day
The one-day First Aid for Mental Health course is for those who are looking to gain an awareness of mental illness.
The course will enable candidates to understand some common mental health illnesses, and to support their own mental health and the wellbeing of colleagues by creating Mental Health First Aid champions within the workplace.
The First Aid for Mental Health related subjects covered are:
- What is First Aid for Mental Health?
- Identifying mental health conditions
- Providing advice and starting a conversation
- Mental health conditions
- Drugs and alcohol
- First Aid for Mental Health action plan
- First Aid for Mental Health in the workplace
Who should attend?
This course is suitable for those who are looking to gain an awareness of mental health in the workplace.
The minimum age to attend this course is 16 years old.
How long does the course last?
This course lasts for one day. Candidates are required to complete six contact hours of training and assessment. It is therefore necessary that candidates are able to attend for the whole duration of the course.
9.00am until 4.45pm.
Candidates will be assessed throughout the course. A range of methods are used, including practical and questioning (open and multiple-choice).
Successful candidates will receive a certificate which is valid for three years.
Please be aware that the First Aid for Mental Health course focuses on employees in the workplace and covers subjects that some people may find distressing. Do not book your candidate(s) onto this course without firstly checking with them that they feel comfortable in attending.
