Using an AED in Inverness Training Centre

The Using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) course provides candidates with the knowledge and the confidence to use this life saving piece of equipment.

On completion of training, you will be able to:

  • manage an incident
  • state the priorities of first aid, including primary/secondary surveys and recovery position
  • demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • identify disorders of the airway, including choking
  • identify disorders of circulation, including angina, heart attack and cardiac arrest
  • demonstrate the correct use of a defibrillator

Who should attend?
This course is designed for those who wish to gain an understanding of how to use an AED which can be found in many public and work places.

This is a piece of equipment that, if applied quickly, can help save a casualty’s life.

How long does the course last?
3 hours. Candidates are required to complete three contact hours of training and assessment. It is therefore necessary that candidates are able to attend for the whole duration of the course to allow them to be eligible for continuous assessment and certification.

9.00am until 12.00pm, or 1.00pm until 4.00pm

Candidates will be assessed throughout the course. Evidence of underpinning knowledge and practical skills competence will be required for certification.

Successful candidates will receive a St Andrew’s First Aid Training and Supplies Ltd ‘Using an Automated External Defibrillator’ certificate, which is valid for one year.
