What Is First Aid Volunteering?

You might be wondering what a St Andrew’s First Aid volunteer actually does. It’s often much simpler, and more rewarding, than people think.

What “First Aid Volunteer” Really Means

It’s time to reframe the term. Being a first aid volunteer is about:

  • Supporting people when they feel unwell or overwhelmed at an event.
  • Responding calmly using the training we’ve given you.
  • Helping prevent small issues (like a minor scrape or heat exhaustion) from becoming bigger problems.

Why First Aid Volunteers Matter at Events

Without our volunteers, many community events simply couldn’t happen. You provide a quick response when someone is in need and offer a sense of reassurance to the public, helping everything run smoothly.

Certain events require first aid cover – and our charity steps in to keep the show (game, event, gig) on the road
