Volunteer Development Officer

Location: Glasgow
Salary: c. £28,500 per annum
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

St Andrew’s First Aid is Scotland’s dedicated first aid charity and a leading provider of first aid training and event first aid services. Through our market-leading commercial training business and committed volunteer network, we support communities across Scotland and respond to both local and national emergencies.

We are seeking a Volunteer Development Officer to help grow, support and strengthen our volunteer network.

Reporting to the Volunteer Training & Development Manager, this role works closely with Regional Development Groups, Company Commandants and volunteers to ensure the smooth and effective running of our volunteering function. You will take responsibility for a defined geographical area, acting as a key link between volunteers and head office teams.

You will support recruitment, induction, engagement, retention and development activities, helping to create clear and accessible pathways for volunteers. You will champion volunteer voice, establish feedback mechanisms and ensure policies and processes are applied consistently and effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Regional Development Groups and Company Commandants
  • Acting as a first point of contact for volunteer queries and issues
  • Supporting recruitment, induction and youth development activity
  • Assisting with volunteer conduct and performance matters
  • Developing volunteer pathways and co-ordinator role frameworks
  • Supporting emergency planning and resilience activity
  • Acting as a “super user” of the Volunteer Relationship Management System
  • Supporting health and safety compliance and safeguarding responsibilities

This role requires someone who is organised, confident working with volunteers and comfortable navigating complex, people-focused environments. You will bring strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to build trust across a dispersed volunteer network.

The role includes periodic evening and weekend working and may involve supporting event on-call functions.

If you are passionate about volunteering and want to help shape a positive, high-quality volunteer experience within a respected national charity, we would love to hear from you.
