Scottish Primary School First Aid Programme

Life saving skills for young heroes!

“Every session is interactive, age-appropriate, and the programme is packed with practical skills and activities including role play, CPR manikin use, games, worksheets, and problem solving real-life scenarios.”

“The programme empowers young learners to become calm and capable responders – and maybe even lifesavers.”

7 core sessions, plus additional topics available!

Learn how to spot real emergencies, call 999/112, give the right information, and choose the right service. Activities include role-play, watching videos, and take-home tasks to help children build confidence to act when it matters.

This session teaches how to stay safe, check a casualty, and assist emergency services. Pupils learn the 3 P’s and 4 B’s to prioritise care in real-life scenarios.

Explore what’s inside a First Aid Kit and how to perform both primary and secondary surveys. With hands-on practice opportunities and an introduction to medical alerts, students develop awareness and key response skills.

Learn about blood and bleeding, and how to treat wounds and shock —plus hands-on sling and pressure bandage practice! Young people also learn to manage nosebleeds and fainting.

Understand the layers of skin, how burns happen, and how to treat them. Children will learn to cool, cover, and respond to burn injuries—from scalds to electric burns—without panic or myths – and correctly know when to seek further help.

Including asthma, choking and anaphylaxis, this session covers lifesaving care using inhalers, adrenaline auto-injectors, and effective response techniques.

Master lifesaving CPR and how to use a defibrillator (AED). The children will practice chest compressions, rescue breaths, and using AEDs safely, with music cues to guide rhythm and pace.

Mini sessions coming soon, including learning about diabetes, epilepsy, heart attacks and sepsis!
