Reporting to: Head of Service Delivery
Salary: £30,102 per annum

About Us

St Andrew’s First Aid has been serving communities across Scotland for over 140 years. Today we’re entering an exciting period of transformation, strengthening our volunteer infrastructure, modernising systems, and investing in how we deliver at scale. We’re recruiting across several roles as part of this growth and improvement journey.

It’s a genuinely energising time to join us, with real opportunities to shape how we work, enhance service delivery, and contribute to a forward-looking, ambitious organisation.

The Role

We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Volunteer Development Specialist to help us support, develop and grow our volunteer community.

Working closely with volunteers, Regional Development Groups and Company Commandants, you’ll help ensure our volunteers have a positive, well-supported experience from induction and training through to ongoing development, engagement and retention.

You’ll act as an important link between our volunteers and colleagues across the organisation – listening to feedback, resolving issues, supporting consistent ways of working and helping us continually improve the volunteer experience.

This is a varied, people-focused role where you’ll:

  • Support volunteers across induction, training, development, engagement and retention
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers and regional volunteer teams
  • Help resolve issues and provide practical support and guidance
  • Create opportunities for volunteers to share feedback and have their voices heard
  • Support the development of volunteer roles and progression pathways
  • Help deliver initiatives designed to improve the volunteer experience and grow our volunteer base
  • Support volunteers to make effective use of our Volunteer Relationship Management system
  • Contribute to volunteer conduct and performance matters where required

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have experience of volunteering or volunteer coordination within the voluntary or community sector
  • Understand the volunteer journey and what creates a great volunteer experience
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with a wide range of people
  • Are organised, practical and confident solving problems
  • Communicate well and are comfortable handling sensitive or challenging situations
  • Enjoy working collaboratively while being confident using your own initiative

Some evening/weekend work and participation in an events on-call rota will be required.

If you’re passionate about helping volunteers feel supported, valued and able to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
