St Andrew’s First Aid Trustee and Volunteer to take part in Queen’s Baton Relay

St Andrew’s First Aid is delighted that several volunteers were selected to carry the Queen’s Baton ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Commandant of Inverclyde Company and Trustee for the charity, Willie Cooper carried the baton through his local Company’s area of Inverclyde in recognition of his dedication to the charity.

Willie said of being asked to carry the Baton,

“I am tremendously happy on a personal level to have been selected to take part in the Queen’s Baton Relay; however I also feel that this is a great endorsement for the work that is done by St Andrew’s First Aid throughout Scotland.

“I am one of almost 2,000 St Andrew’s First Aid volunteers and see this honour as being recognition of the dedication every one of these First Aiders who voluntarily give up their time to deliver First Aid support at events throughout the country.”

St Andrew’s First Aid Chief Executive, Stuart Callison added,

“Everyone at St Andrew’s First Aid is extremely pleased to see so many of our hardworking volunteers being asked to participate in the Queen’s Baton Relay. Willie has been a First Aider with the charity for a great number of years and really deserves this recognition. Not only does he lead the Inverclyde group of volunteers in their First Aid duties, but he is also a dedicated fundraiser and more recently a Trustee for the charity.

“I can’t think of a more appropriate way of recognising Willie’s contribution to the charity; he can be found at sporting events, providing First Aid cover in his area and beyond. St Andrew’s First Aid would like to wish him, and our other Baton bearing volunteers, all the best for the Queen’s Baton Relay.”

St Andrew’s First Aid is Scotland’s leading First Aid charity, with a history centred on volunteering and the promotion of First Aid. Other volunteers participating in the Queen’s Baton Relay include Georgette Fulton, Commandant of Cumnock Corps Company and Danny McLauchlan, former Commandant of Strathkelvin Corps Company.
