Balfour Beatty Engineering Services raise over £2,600 for St Andrew’s First Aid

Employees from Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES), one of the UK’s largest mechanical and electrical building services businesses, took part in the ‘Mugdock Challenge’ on 27 May 2012 and has so far raised £2,664 for the Renfrew branch of St Andrew’s First Aid.

The 85 participants ranged from two weeks to 70 years in age and included employees from St Andrew’s First Aid. The challenge took place at Mugdock Country Park, ten miles north of Glasgow and consisted of either a two, six or twelve mile walk through woods, along lochs, past reservoirs and a castle in what is one of the most picturesque parts of the country. The event was one of many taking place as part of Balfour Beatty’s Sustainability Month.

St Andrew’s First Aid provides people in Scotland with first aid skills training, first aid support at events, youth schemes and vital first aid supplies.

Mark Griffiths, managing director, BBES Power Systems, attended the event along with seven members of his family and said: “Following a cardiac arrest at work, prompt first aid and the availability of a St Andrew’s First Aid defibrillator saved my life. Hence support for this event was very close to my heart.”
