Our work in communities across Scotland
In the first quarter of 2017, St Andrew’s First Aid volunteers delivered 74 talks and demonstrations across Scotland. In May and June we had 50 sessions scheduled and some of these will count towards our Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) target.
Some of the places where our volunteers have delivered sessions include primary schools, Guides, Brownies and at community fayres. These sessions have been in the four corners of Scotland, from Stornoway to Selkirk!
Our target for 2016/17 for OHCA was 2,000 individuals attending a CPR demonstration and we are delighted to announce that we surpassed this target. The total for the year was an absolutely fantastic 3,827!
A new batch of first aid training is also underway across three Glasgow schools through our BandAge schools programme. This will add a further 220 young First Aiders to our target, all who can assist in their community if a first aid situation arises. A small group of 36 pupils will also be selected to complete the additional peer training.
Well done and thank you to all our hardworking volunteers. The support of our members is vital in our mission to create a nation of lifesavers.
