Scottish First Aid Awards 2017 – Where are they now?

Ross Stockton

Each of our dedicated volunteers is committed to helping us create a nation of lifesavers however there are always those who go above and beyond their duties. The St Andrew’s First Aid Young Volunteer of the Year awards is designed to recognise younger volunteers who not only have a bright future within the organisation but act as a role model for their peers.

In 2017 Ross Stockton was presented with this award in recognition of his commitment to the charity and first aid in general. Ross’s nomination was accompanied by a sterling recommendation from a fellow volunteer:

“Ross is a role model for his peers and is a testament of what can be achieved with hard work and dedication.

“Ross’s progression and development within the organisation is an inspiration to all. He is the youngest member to complete the leadership course feedback from the facilitators included: he has progressed steadily through the ranks of the corps and has undertaken leadership roles at major events.

“Although still only 21 years old Ross continues to flourish and grow and was recently successful in joining the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“He continues to contribute positively to the organisation and is seen as a great ambassador for youth within the organisation.”

In 2018 Ross has continued his work with the Scottish Ambulance Service, developing his professional career and has a bright future ahead of him. He remains a firm role model to our younger St Andrew’s First Aid volunteers. Who knows – maybe he’ll be back to claim the Emergency Services of the Year award one day!
