Trainer Tips: Stings

Bee, wasp and hornet stings tend to be painful rather than dangerous, unless you are severely allergic. Our new Trainer Tips video shows you how to treat someone who had been stung by either a bee, wasp or hornet.

  1. If the sting is still in the affected area, scrape it off sideways with the edge of a credit card, or your fingernail. Don;t use tweezers as this could squeeze the sting and inject more poison.
  2. To ease the pain and swelling, raise the affected area and apply a cold compress.
  3. Make sure to look out for signs of an allergic reaction like swelling, red itchy skin, wheezing and difficulty breathing.
