The Kitchin cooks up incredible charity collaboration

Michelin-starred Scottish restaurant The Kitchin has named St Andrew’s First Aid charity of the month, presenting us with a cheque for £1,277 raised as a result of diners’ donations. Diners were given food for thought through The Kitchin’s monthly charity scheme which encourages them to donate through their bill to a selected charity.

Chef-patron, Tom Kitchin said, “At The Kitchin we set up our charity of the month to allow us to support many local, deserving charities. Along with our loyal customers, we’re pleased to be able to raise money for a good cause. The work that St Andrew’s First Aid carries out is both valuable and beneficial, and we’re proud to hear that the money raised is going to help people and save lives in Edinburgh and throughout Scotland. As our neighbours in Leith, it’s even more fantastic that the money raised is benefiting people right on our doorstep.”

Fundraising and PR Assistant, Rebecca Thomson, said, “The partnership between The Kitchin, who are our neighbours in Leith, and St Andrew’s First Aid is a recipe for success and we are very grateful to Tom Kitchin and his staff for choosing St Andrew’s First Aid as their charity of the month.

“Every penny makes a difference to our work and this donation will go a long way towards helping us achieve our charitable goals. For example, the funds raised would cover the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), the use of which makes all the difference between a life lost and life saved. For every minute that CPR and defibrillation are not received following sudden cardiac arrest, a casualty’s chances of survival drop by 10%.

“We never forget that we are able to continue to deliver excellence in First Aid throughout Scotland due to the generosity of our supporters and I would therefore also like thank the members of the public who gave so charitably.”
