FREE summer school first aid course for children 17/8/2012

On Friday 17th August we will pilot our second FREE summer school first aid course for children. The 4 Hour Emergency First Aid Course has been developed to teach children basic first aid skills and the pilot course is scheduled to take place in Raploch, Stirling.

“We are providing this course free for children in the Stirling area,” said Mary McLuskey, managing director at St Andrew’s First Aid.  “If successful we hope to roll out similar courses throughout Scotland.  We hope the course will help children make friends, develop confidence and obtain a sense of achievement in learning basic but essential first aid skills in a fun and safe setting.  We are grateful for the funding to pilot this course for children – our first aiders of the future.”

The 4-hour course is designed for 12-15 year olds who wish to gain a basic insight into First Aid and includes:-

  • Managing an incident
  • Priorities of First Aid
  • CPR
  • Disorders of the airway
  • Disorders of circulation
  • Control of bleeding
  • Burns and scalds
  • Certification

All children who successfully complete the course will be awarded a certificate which is valid for three years. Those interested in registering for this course should telephone 01592 631 758 or email fiona.lumsden@firstaid.org.uk.  Please note places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
