FREE summer school first aid course for children 20/07/2012
On Friday we will pilot our first FREE summer school first aid course for children. The 4 Hour Emergency First Aid Course has been developed to teach children basic first aid skills and the pilot course is scheduled to take place on Friday 20th July at 10am in Hillington.
“We are providing this course free for children in the Glasgow area,” said Mary McLuskey, managing director at St Andrew’s First Aid. “If successful we hope to roll out similar courses throughout Scotland. We hope the course will help children make friends, develop confidence and obtain a sense of achievement in learning basic but essential first aid skills in a fun and safe setting. We are grateful for the funding to pilot this course for children – our first aiders of the future.”
The 4-hour course is designed for 8-15 year olds who wish to gain a basic insight into First Aid and includes:-
- Managing an incident
- Priorities of First Aid
- Disorders of the airway
- Disorders of circulation
- Control of bleeding
- Burns and scalds
All children who successfully complete the course will be awarded a certificate which is valid for three years. Those interested in registering for this course should telephone 0141 880 9060 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
