St Andrew's Cadets (11 to 15 years)

St Andrew’s Cadets are aimed at 11 to 15 year olds and provide the opportunity for young people to develop their skills and interest in first aid training and associated subjects.

The aims of our Cadets are to:

  • Encourage young people to participate in activities that develop their life skills e.g. Cadet Award Scheme, Duke of Edinburgh Award etc.
  • Provide the opportunity for young people to belong to a national Scottish youth organisation.
  • Provide a safe and happy environment where young people may participate in activities such as the Cadet Challenge, Cadet of the Year competition and various other first aid related activities.

The Cadet programme also gives youngsters an insight into working within an adult Company as there are opportunities to attend events as helpers and observers.

Currently St Andrew’s run Cadet groups across the following area:

  • Ayrshire
  • Dundee
  • Edinburgh
  • Fife
  • Glasgow
  • Highlands
  • South Lanarkshire

After the age of 16 a Cadet can go on to become a member of an adult volunteer company where they can become a first aider at major events across Scotland.
