First Aid at Work - Course descriptions
All our courses are designed to provide your employees with a qualification in First Aid to comply with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.
All courses include theoretical and practical work.
One Week Course
This course covers the following:
(a) Resuscitation
(b) Treatment and Control of Bleeding
(c) Treatment of Shock
(d) Management of the Unconscious Casualty
(e) Contents of First Aid Boxes and their Use
(f) Purchasing First Aid supplies
(g) Transport of Casualties
(h) Recognition of Illness
(i) Treatment of Injuries to Bones, Muscles and Joints
(j) Treatment of Minor Injuries
(k) Treatment of Burns and Scalds
(l) Eye Irrigation
(m) Poisons
(n) Simple Record Keeping
(o) Personal Hygiene in Treating Wounds
(p) Communication and delegation in an Emergency
On successful completion of the final assessment candidates are awarded an HSE Approved First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for three years.
4-Day Release Course
This course takes place one day per week over four weeks.
The course includes the same subjects as the One Week Course, however it gives the candidates the opportunity to study at home during the week.
On successful completion of the final assessment, candidates are awarded an HSE Approved First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for three years.
Requalification Course
This is a two day requalification course (1 day per week or over two consecutive days) which includes the revision of all subjects covered in the full course.
This course enables your employees to renew their certificate before it expires.
Successful candidates are awarded an HSE Approved First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for a further three years.
Emergency Aid for Appointed Persons Course
A one day course suitable for “Appointed Persons” under the Health and Safety Regulations.
The course includes:
(a) Resuscitation
(b) Control of Bleeding
(c) Treatment of the Unconscious Casualty
(d) Communication and Contents of First Aid Boxes
(e) Heart Disorders and Epilepsy
(f) Shock
(g) Burns and Scalds
A certificate of attendance is presented and the training should be repeated every three years as a minimum.
