Bob Thomson MBE
Office Manager, Grampian Executive Committee, Member since 1979
Having been involved in First Aid initially in the Royal Air Force and then in the workplace Bob decided to maintain and improve his First Aid skills by enrolling on a St Andrew’s course in September 1979. On completing the course Bob decided to join the local volunteer Company. "Being a member gave me the opportunity to practice my First Aid skills at many various events and in 1980 I was elected as the Company's Depute Commandant. This, with the support of the other members gave me the opportunity to embark on a programme of re-equipping, recruitment, and undertaking of more public duties."
In 1999 Bob joined St Andrew’s First Aid staff as manager of the Grampian Office. "As Manager I am responsible for organising internal and external training courses in the region, invoicing, budgeting and maintaining the Executive accounts, liaising with event organisers and Corps Companies in the allocation of First Aid cover for events and occasionally standing in as a Trainer/Assessor when needed. Bob says "This was a new position covering the very large Grampian area so it gave me the opportunity to expand services to a wider selection of the public and businesses beyond the local Aberdeen area."
Bob has now been with St Andrew’s First Aid for more than 30 years, and says "my aim is to continue to provide a high standard of training and administrative support for the Grampian area, helping St Andrew's to reach as many people as possible.”
