Standard First Aid

This 24 hour course is for anyone of 15 years and over who wishes to gain knowledge and experience of First Aid. A Standard certificate is also the minimum requirement for becoming a St Andrew’s volunteer First Aider.

Course content includes:

  • Incident and casualty management
  • Priorities of First Aid
  • Adult, baby and child CPR
  • Disorders of the airway
  • Control of bleeding
  • Disorders of the brain
  • Burns and scalds
  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
  • Poisoning
  • Extremes of temperature
  • Eye injuries
  • Miscellaneous injuries and conditions

Certification

The certificate for successful completion of this course is valid for three years.
